Roo, an eight-week-old Labrador mix, was named after a ‘kangaroo,’ because of the way she hops around using her hind legs. When she walks, she leans on her elbows with her bottom in the air.
This is because Roo was born with six legs – two extra in the front – so she has a little trouble getting around like a normal dog would.
When Lauren Salmon’s 15-year-old son, Luke, saw Roo advertised by a breeder online, their family knew they had to have her. Since she was born with a defect, it’s likely that the breeder would have eventually had her euthanized if she couldn’t find her a home.
When Luke and his mom went to pick her up, she came hopping out of her pen and jumped up on her hind legs. She was so happy to see them and they could tell right away how full of life she was, despite her defect. Open Next Page Below To See More
